Is tutoring one-on-one or group? All tutoring is one-on-one and is customized to focus on your child’s specific needs from one lesson to the next.

Do you work with children with special needs? Yes. I specialize in helping children with dyslexia, literacy struggles, or gaps in education.

Will you do an assessment before you start with my child and how much will it cost? Yes, if needed. The cost of administering the test, scoring, and interpreting the results is $150.

Do you provide Progress Reports? Yes. Regular Progress Reports will be provided after completion of Substeps and Assessments, or an informal one for those special Ah-ha! Moments.

Is there homework? Follow-up work from lessons may include rereading lesson material to build fluency or other brief tasks. Independent homework will not be assigned, but I am happy to recommend resources for additional practice on request.

How does Enrollment work? Enrollment is month to month. You will receive an invoice at the end of each month for lessons taught. Payment is due prior to the next lesson. Cash, check, Venmo and Zelle are accepted.

What is your cancellation policy? A 24-hour notice for cancelled lessons is required. Sometimes life is messy though, and those situations can be addressed. In the case of a no-show for a lesson, you will be responsible for paying the lesson fee.

Why do you use the Wilson Language System? Wilson’s programs feature research-based, systematic, and multisensory structured language curricula to help every student succeed. Students learn to read step-by-step, starting with the basic structure and rules of our language, then building to more advanced lessons over time. Not only is the end goal for students to read and write, but also for them to feel higher self-esteem and greater self-confidence about themselves. Then, the spillover effect of feeling empowered in other areas of their lives.

Is the Wilson Language System accredited by the International Dyslexia Association? The Wilson Language System received the IDA AccreditationPlus, because its educators have engaged in intensive supervised practicum experiences that were sufficiently designed and staffed to promote applied mastery of the principles and practices of structured literacy in the service of preventing reading failure and remediating off-track readers with profiles characteristic of dyslexia.

Can I go ahead and sign up for tutoring? Yes! Just call, text, or email me, and we’ll find dates and times that work with your schedule.
